We guarantee you will fall in love with Whitby. It has an "olde worlde" charm with its cobbled streets and historical buildings throughout the town. It is located on the mouth of the river Esk and has a picturesque harbour where one can organise fishing and sight seeing trips.

It's shopping is unique and there are several independent shops, some of which are quirky to say the least! 

Whitby is the "home" of black jet jewellery made famous by Queen Victoria and Whitby Jet is arguably the finest of its kind. 

Walkers are spoiled for choice with many safe, easily accessible trails, the most well known being The Cleveland Way and Cindertrack. 

Photographers have a plethora of choice:- stunningly beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the ever changing moods of the sea, ancient Whitby Abbey and the iconic Whalebones, Captain James Cook's statue and the quaint and often crooked buildings and narrow alley ways. 

Whitby's beach was given Blue Flag status in 2019 and has 2 miles of sand so there is plenty of room for everyone. The West Cliff beach stretches up to the West Pier and as well as glorious coastal views, one can also see the colourful beach huts. Tate Hill Beach is a small sandy beach located within the sheltered Esk River Harbour and is a popular spot for campfires and picnic lovers. 

For history lovers Whitby Abbey, Captain Cook Memorial Museum, The Endeavour Experience, RNLI Lifeboat Museum, W.Hammond Museum of Whitby Jet, Pannett Park (Whitby) Museum and Art Gallery all provide a fascinating glimpse into Whitby's history. 

Whitby also has plenty of excellent restaurants and pubs.
